Rolling out the red carpet
By CHRISTINA LOW
AFTER just six weeks of renovation, Tropicana Golf and Country Resort unveiled its much awaited Grand Ballroom recently.
“We have to move along with the times, installing the latest electronic equipment and designs. As the club is now 16 years old, many of the things we used before were outdated,” said Tropicana Golf and Country Resort Bhd senior general manager Herman Tan
Tan said renovations at the club started off with Palms Wing, which is the new F&B wing with restaurants like Pimento, Momotalo Yakiniku Japanese traditional char-grilled restaurant, Cuisine Studio, and the Havana bar, pool and karaoke lounge.
This was followed with the Kindyland kindergarten, Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant, Golf House, Grand Foyer area and the Golf Registration at the Sports Wing.
A perfect reception: The setup for a Chinese wedding dinner complete with a stage where couples can do their toast and cut the wedding cake Tan said the RM5mil ballroom was suitable for major functions as it was spacious and could accommodate up to 900 guests when all three rooms are joined together.
The ballroom with earthy tones was lit in warm colours and fitted with two stages, each situated at one end of the ballroom.
The newly-renovated ballroom could also be divided into three boutique function rooms (Green 1, 2 and 3) for smaller scale events.
All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TV sets, lighting audio and video systems, permanent drop down projection screens and an advanced lighting control system with Martin smartMAC moving heads that can be used to illuminate the audience as well as to create multiple colour tones to reflect the mood.
Wireless internet access and a karaoke library with stocks of some 38,000 songs from Havana Bar had also been installed in all function rooms and restaurants at the clubhouse.
“Besides using updated technology here we also have another unique feature, which is the food we serve.
“Those planning to host weddings or events do not have to stick to just the basic simple dishes as we cater Western cuisine, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Malay, French and Italian too,” said Tan.
