Musical treat for bank’s customers
OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad took about 500 of its corporate and treasury customers on a spectacular music date at KLPac.
They were thrilled by the Dama Orchestra’s “I Have A Date With Spring”, with its combination of Chinese oldies and music from the 60s through the 80s. The performance, supported by a cast of 30 talented Malaysian actors and actresses, certainly delighted the bank’s customers.
This is the second year the bank is hosting such an event for its customers. Last year, the bank treated its customers to a series of Chinese classical numbers by the Dama Orchestra themed “Down Memory Lane.”
According to the bank’s Head of Global Treasury, Gan Kok Kim, the musical performance was another way for the bank to reward its customers for having been with the bank all these years.
“Having the Dama Orchestra lead our customers through the 60s, 70s and 80s in music, is our way of reflecting with them on the many years they have spent with us. And, of course, there is the sheer entertainment value that comes with any performance by the Dama Orchestra,” he said.
Dama is a multiple award-winning music group, well-known for their exquisite blending of western and traditional Chinese musical instruments in their performances.
In 1994, the musicians made their debut in the Malaysian performing arts scene with their sold-out concert “An Evening of Chinese Chamber Music.”
Talented: The cast of the musical performing for the guests. Led by its music director, Khor Seng Chew, Dama has performed music works from both the east and the west, as well as music pieces from around the world.
They have been hailed as Malaysia’s music ambassador abroad, showcasing their unique brand of music at international world music festivals.
The musicians have also been invited to play with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and have performed at Istana Budaya (Malaysia), Majestic Theatre (China), Esplanade Concert Hall (Singapore), Jubilee Hall (Singapore), MetroTV Auditorium (Indonesia) and Putra World Trade Centre (Malaysia).
They have also taken part in the tsunami charity concert to help raise funds for the tsunami victims.
