DJROA bags trophy and RM50,000 for being the best

A STRONG sense of community among Damansara Jaya residents has bagged them the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) best neighbourdood award.
The award was presented by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim last Friday at the Civic Centre Banquet Hall in Jalan Yong Shook Lin.
“We’re happy to receive this award again, as we won the first prize in 2001 and were placed second in 2004,” said a beaming Damansara Jaya Residents and Owners Association (DJROA) chairman Yew Cheng Hoe.

“We’ve previously used the funds to extend our community centre and to buy equipment for our activities,” Yew said.
The SS20 Rukun Tetangga (RT) came in second, while the Petaling Utama RT came in third, winning RM30,000 and RM20,000 respectively.
Three other neighbourhoods received Merit awards: Taman Dato’ Harun PKNS Flats RT, Desa Mentari Block 3 Residents Association and the Damansara Residency Residence Association.
Representatives of the 25 neighbourhoods that took part in the competition attended the dinner and award presentation.

The guests were entertained with performances by Petaling Jaya residents.
The Daman Senja Flats RT performed a Bangra dance while the Taman Dato’ Harun PKNS flats RT performed a Poco-poco dance.
