Celebrities show they care for animals
By JAYAGANDI JAYARAJ
THEMED We care; We Love; We Support, the 2010 calendar featuring celebrities Amber Chia, Jojo Struys, Angel Wong and Serena C with their pets, is available at all major bookstores now.
The table calendar, which is in aid of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Malaysian National Animal Welfare Foundation (MNAWF), is a collaboration between Amber Creations and Digital Imaging Publication Sdn Bhd.
The idea for the project cropped up during a casual coffee session between Chia and K.L Yeam of Digital Imaging, which also publishes Pet Lovers magazine.
Chia, who grew up with pets such as cats, dogs, rabbits and birds, said having pets were a source of comfort and happiness and animal companions were a great stress reliever too.
Support us: (from left) Angel Wong, S. Nirmala from MNAWF, KL Yeam, Jojo Struys, Jacinta Johnson from SPCA and Amber Chia posing for a photograph at the calendar launch. The Malaysian supermodel, who currently has three dogs, said when she first moved to Kuala Lumpur she had no space for pets as she lived in an apartment.
However, when she moved to her bungalow, she got her first dog which is a pretty Golden Retriever. Now she has two more dogs.
Chia added that the calendar project was to show her support for animal-based charities.
The calendar is sold at RM19.90 each. From this, RM10 will be directed to the two charities. For those who wish to purchase these in bulk, e-mail klyeamkl@dipublication.com.
