Kids’ party spreads green message

SOME 120 children were treated to a party by the Kiwanis Club of Bandaraya Ipoh in conjunction with this year’s Universal Children Day celebration.

The children had fun participating in party games planned for them at the Taman Sri Kurau playground, Bercham in Ipoh on Oct 24.

This year, Kiwanis introduced party games to the children with the aim of teaching them to be more environmentally conscious.

They were required to identify recyclable items and place them in respective containers to win pri-zes.

Kiwanis district governor Ng Bee Keong said three years ago, the club started the environment project aimed at creating awareness on recycling among the children.

“It is the duty of everyone to protect the environment and taking care of the environment through recycling is also a simple and effective way of reducing wastage,” he said.

Ng added that it was best to educate the young to be environmentally conscious.

Organising chairman Ann Yong also said not only did the children enjoy themselves at the party but more importantly, they also became aware of the importance of recycling.
