MALACCA: Newly posted Malacca Chief of Police SAC I Datuk Mohd Rodwan Mohd Yusof vows to ensure the crime rate in the state remains low.
Mohd Rodwan, 56, former Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director (strategic planning), said his main concern would be to keep the crime index under 2% while reducing hotspots by 20% in line with the national target.
“Malacca has done well so far and has a crime index of -5.3% for the period from January to October, with 3,338 cases,” he told reporters after receiving his official duties at a ceremony held at the Malacca police contingent hadquarters at Bukit Beruang on Monday.
“My predecessor, SAC I Datuk Mazlan Mansor has done an excellent job. I will try to do as well, if not better,” he said, adding that the solving rate achieved by police here stood at a commendable 48%.

As a state dependent on the tourism industry, he said it was crucial for the police and local communities to work together to make the streets of Malacca crime free.
Mohd Rodwan, who has 30 years experience in the CID, is swapping post with Mazlan who also assumed duty at Bukit Aman on Monday.
