Week-long festival at new 13-storey pagoda
Newly completed: The 13-storey pagoda at the Enlightened Heart Buddhist Centre in Tambun. THE Enlightened Heart Buddhist Centre in Tambun, Perak, will be conducting the annual Medicine Buddha Puja at its newly completed 13-storey pagoda next week.
The week-long event will be held from Nov 9 to 15 with daily chanting and lighting of oil lamps.
Registration is now open for the lighting of 100 auspicious lotus lamps, specially prepared this year, for those wishing to pray for good health and speedy recovery from illness.
The centre’s abbot Reverend Ge Li said Venerable Tulku Rinpoche from Nepal had been invited to give blessings to devotees.
Construction of the RM7mil Medicine Buddha Pagoda, the largest of its kind in South-East Asia, started in 1979 because of a vow by Rev Ge Li to extend hope for longevity, good health and to alleviate the sufferings of mankind.
Rev Ge Li said a “One Thousand People” dinner would be held at the centre at 7pm on Nov 14.
He said the centre needed volunteers for the function.
