Volunteer club formed to help community
A TOTAL of 60 employees of SP Setia Bhd signed up for voluntary services through it newly-launched Setia Foundation Volunteers Club.
The launching ceremony was held at Setia Eco Park Club House.
SP Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and SP Setia Bhd executive vice-president-cum-chief financial officer Teow Leong Seng, executive vice-president Raymand Yap and executive vice-president of SP Setia Bhd Group Richard Ong were present during the launching of the club.
“This event shows how the staff of SP Setia have answered the company’s call for their involvement in corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Symbolic: Lee signing on the mock card to mark the launch of the Setia Foundation Volunteers Club. “It is about how employees can join hands to volunteer their service for the betterment of the community at large,” said Lee.
The 60 employees are from the Klang Valley offices. The foundation intends to expand its volunteers club membership to other states like Johor and Penang.
The objective of setting up the club is to promote and encourage staff participation in social work and to uphold and promote the Setia spirit of caring among the employees.
Lee also said the foundation under its flagship project had adopted 2,300 poor students in seven states in Peninsular Malaysia and it required a lot of manpower to visit the families as the foundation had limited resources.
Some activities have been carried out before the official launching of the club such as visits to the Malaysian Association for the Blind, the Cerebral Palsy (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang and Care Heaven Welfare Services’s orphanage in Johor.
