Annual church carnival attracts 11,000 visitors
IT WAS a fun-filled Saturday for about 11,000 people who converged at the Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Resort, Kuala Lumpur, for the Calvary Carnival ’09 held recently.
The carnival marked the third time Calvary Church has organised such an event to raise funds for the building of Calvary Convention Centre (CCC) in Bukit Jalil.
The CCC is a multi-purpose centre dedicated to the pursuit of holistic activities which would benefit society.
These activities include the hosting of international, regional and national conventions, banquets, seminars, musicals and creative arts productions.
A good time: Children from Rumah Charis having fun at the carnival. The centre is now under construction and will be completed by 2011.
Organising committee adviser associate pastor Raymond Wong said he was glad with the good turnout for the carnival.
“Due to caring companies and individuals, we were also able to play host to 630 children from 14 orphanages.
Visitors had a delightful time patronising more than 130 stalls of food, serving both local favourites and international cuisine, games stalls, a book sale giving big discounts, along with an assortment of interesting items at the bazaar stalls.
They were also treated to special performances from well-known Malaysian entertainers, Joanne Yeoh, Brian Yim and Patrick Leong.
Visitors and participants returned home with smiles and fond memories of having attended and enjoyed themselves at the carnival.
