Food fiesta, Malaysian style
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is not only a shopping paradise – it is also a food oasis.
A CELEBRATION of food must never go unannounced, and so here it is.
This month, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is treating shoppers to a great food hunt and good discounts at several of the 80 outlets under its roof.
Fibre fix: Auntie Han deftly rolling up an Ipoh Popiah to serve. Three of its six food-themed precincts – Couture Pavilion, Connection, and Gourmet Emporium will be offering street bistros, cafes, international cuisine, snacks and confectionery during the Fabulous Food 1Malaysia campaign organised by the Tourism Ministry.
You can opt for fine dining or feast on simple but delectable local street food such as nasi lemak, laksa, bak kut teh, Ipoh hor fun and much more.
Pavilion chief executive officer for retail, Joyce Yap, says the campaign has given their food and beverage tenants a good opportunity to promote and showcase the variety and uniqueness of Malaysian cuisine.
The food fest is being held at all six levels of Pavilion.
The Gourmet Emporium, which is on Level One has a host of eateries for a quick bite, including the Food Republic with the 27 food stalls.
Incidentally, Food Republic is also celebrating its second anniversary at the Pavilion, and they are offering a discount of 25% on selected items from 3pm to 6pm daily this month.
Dishes that will be sold at a discount during this three-hour period include Braised Chicken Rice & Soup from the Hong Kong Roast; Three Treasures Beef Noodle from Little Taiwan: Fettucine Seafood Marinara at Wild Basil; Loh Mee from Mee Jawa; and Special Crispy Prawn Sang Mee at Ipoh Cuisine.
On this level, there are also other restaurants such as Ichiban Boshi, Crystal Jade Kitchen, Madam Kwan’s, Dragon-i, Tony Roma’s and a host of international fast food chains such as Carl’s Jr, KFC, Pizza Hut and homegrown favourites Old Town White Coffee and Little Ben’s Cafe.
On the luxury designer level where the famous brands are housed, Italian-inspired Cafe Stelle, home to a 40m-runway running right in the centre of this outlet, is offering selected specialty teas and delectable cakes. You can feast on these while your eyes check out the tempting items displayed in the boutiques lined on both sides of the cafe.
On the aisle further away is Godiva Chocolatier, which offers candy for both taste and sight.
Those who prefer international cuisine should head for level six where the Al-Amar Lebanese Cuisine, Bosphorus Fine Turkish Cuisine, Charcoal Steak Grill Angus House, Da On Fine Korean Cuisine, Grand Palace, Italian on Sixth, Kampachi, La Lot Vietnamese Cuisine, Spice of India and The C. Club, to name a few, offer premium dining.
Whatever the event, time and place, seek out one of these outlets that will offer good food and great ambience. For more information, call Pavilion’s dining concierge at 03-2118 8835.
