FTAAA to work with MSSKL to develop athletics
THE Federal Territory Amateur Athletics Association (FTAAA) will work closely with the Kuala Lumpur Schools Sports Council (MSSKL) in the development of athletics.
For the first time, the FTAAA joined the MSSKL’s appreciation for athletes who won medals in this year’s Milo-Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) athletics championships held at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Good job: Sulaiman (in red) and Mohd Amin chatting with the athletes. MSSKL, which had targeted 10 gold medals, had to settle for six gold, nine silver and three bronze medals in the MSSM athletics championships.
Kuala Lumpur Education Department director Sulaiman Wak said they were pleased with the FTAAA’s commitment in the development of athletics.
“We are also keen to work with the FTAAA. The presence of the FTAAA president Tan Sri Mohd Amin Osman and their officials certainly shows their commitment,’’ said Sulaiman.
The FTAAA presented certificate of appreciation to all the medals, while the MSSKL rewarded the athletes with cash.
The FTAAA secretary S. Vegiyathuman said the MSSKL had played an important role in the development of athletes in the state.
“We have to rely on them to groom the young athletes. Many teachers have also come forward to serve as coaches and technical officials. Several of the athletes, who had represented KL in national championships, were all from schools.
“We want to continue our relationship with the MSSKL,’’ said Vegiyathuman.
