Magnum gives GPS


TEN Global Positioning Sys-tem (GPS) units await lucky participants of Penang Starwalk 2009 - thanks to Magnum Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The GPS units are among the items worth RM10,000 sponsored by Magnum Corporation Sdn Bhd for the Dec 13 walk. The company is also sponsoring RM10,000 cash for the event.

Its northern regional manager S. Perambalam said the company was glad to be part of Starwalk as it is one of the premier sports event in the state.

“Starwalk never fails to attract people from all walks of life. It is our corporate social respon-sibility to help promote healthy living by supporting the event,” he said last Friday after hand- ing over the sponsorship to The Star advertisement sales account executive Mike Ong at Magnum’s office in Rangoon Road, Penang.

Magnum is one of the main sponsors for the walk. The others are Pallas, Eastin Hotel, Milo, 100Plus, DiGi, Malta, Eagle Brand, Spritzer, Sunquick and BreatheRight.

Penang Starwalk 2009, which is jointly organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd and the Pe-nang Amateur Athletics Asso- ciation, is divided into com- petition and non-competition categories with both covering 10km.

Competition walkers will be flagged off at 7am by Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas from the Penang Interna-tional Sports Arena (Jalan Mahsuri) while non-competition walkers will start off from SMK Raja Tun Uda in Jalan Tengah at 7.30am.

The registration fee is RM8 for non-competition walkers and RM12 for competition walkers.

All participants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag. Those who complete the walk within two hours will be eligible for a lucky contest.

Registration is open from 9.15am to 5pm on weekdays at the Star Northern Hub, 202, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah in Bayan Lepas, Penang, or the newspaper’s George Town office at 15, Jalan Mesjid Kapitan Keling.
