Securing Island Glades

RESIDENTS of Island Glades can look forward to better security as a community police station has been been set up in the area.
Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob said the station located along the Island Glades main road will be launched on Nov 14.
“The setting up of such a station is a community policing programme to ensure better security for the residents.
“Island Glades is a residential area and we hope to have five policemen including a sergeant stationed there,” he said during a dialogue with residents at the Island Glades field on Saturday.
Island Glades resident Prem Anan Loganthan expressing his views at the dialogue session. He said the particulars of the police personnel complete with their mugshots would be distributed to the residents.
“I encourage the residents to get to know these policemen. Visit them when you’re free and also let your children know their contact numbers.”
DCP Ayub added that the police’s community policing programme aimed to improve the public’s confidence of the police and also for the police to know the issues the communities are facing.
About 50 residents attended the three-hour session organised by Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer and Gelugor MP Karpal Singh who also attended the session.
