Police reserve land cleared for new police station

By STUART MICHAEL

A NEW police station will be built on a police reserve land on Jalan 25/60 in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam by December next year.

The land, which the police had rented out to five used car dealers, has now been cleared.

When StarMetro published the article “Selling used cars on police reserve land” on Dec 4 last year, there were five used car dealers at the site. On Feb 3, StarMetro published another article ‘’Used car dealers still operating on police land”, and the number went down to three.

Rightful owner: A view from an apartment nearby showing the vacant land that used to have used car dealers squatting on it in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam.

According to Shah Alam Zone 9 community welfare bureau chairman M. Ghanasegaran, the clearing was carried out a month ago.

“A police station is what residents in Taman Sri Muda with about 40,000 residents need, especially in the light of the growing crime rate.

“It just will make residents now feel safer with a permanent police station. I would like to thank the media for highlighting this issue that managed to get the Police attention.

“Although there is a police beat about 200m away from this site, the police would have their own building and place to call home,’’ he said.
