Show goes on, minus Ida
DIRECTOR Susan Lankester’s new theatre show “The Good Body” will carry on running in Kuala Lumpur until Sunday, but without actress Ida Nerina who has had to withdraw from the play after she was injured in an accident last week.
The stage production opened with a charity premiere to benefit the WAO (Women’s Aid Organisation) and Ida’s final performance was on Saturday.
All her roles will now be played by her five co-stars – Joanna Bessey (“BBC World: Exploring Malaysia”), Samantha Schubert (“The Red Kebaya”), comedienne Joanne Kam Poh Poh, and newcomers Bella Rahim and Anrie Too.
Lankaster will also share one of her parts in the remaining performances.
“The Good Body”, written by Eve Ensler (“The Vagina Monologues”), is a candid, funny and illuminating portrayal of what women put themselves through to become “good” women.
It’s a poignant and hilarious look into the secret lives of women who have to deal with Botox, bulimia, breast implants and stomach tucks.
Ensler interviewed famous women like Italian actress Isabella Rossellini, and framed their stories with her own personal journey through the serial seductions of low carb diets, ab rollers and personal trainers, to the wise words of a woman who taught her how to love her body.
“The Good Body” runs at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur until Sunday at 8.30pm (with an additional 3pm Sunday matinee). Tickets are RM82, RM62 and RM52 (matinee).
Online bookings are at www.axcess.com.my or call the box-office at 03-77115500.
This performance contains adult material and is recommended for audiences 18 and above.
