Rare gems part of jewellery fair
By BAVANI M
A GORGEOUS pink kunzite pendant set in white gold and diamonds, designed in the shape of a bumble bee, a rare 100-year-old Victorian pearl necklace set in yellow gold and white diamonds and a dragonfly brooch set in a spray of moonstones are just some of the rare and exquisite pieces of jewellery that are available for sale at the Malaysia International Jewellery Fair 2009 (MIJF) exhibition taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre until tomorrow.
Some 200 booths by both local and foreign traders and jewellers are showcasing some of the finest and one-of-a-kind pieces at the exhibition.
The exhibition, which was launched by the Raja Perempuan Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid on Thursday, also attracted celebrities like jazz queen Datuk Sheila Majid and Malaysian model Amber Chia. They added a touch of glitz and glamour to the event.
Sparkling show: Models showcasing the jewellery at the exhibition taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. About 20,000 visitors and traders are expected to visit the exhibition.
Another highlight is that visitors are entitled to take part in the Spend & Win contest.
Those who spend a minimum of RM1,000 and above will stand a chance to win prizes worth RM10,000.
Exquisite: An antique Victorian pearl necklace set in white diamonds from India. Organisers are also offering a “Gift With Purchase” promotion whereby those who spend RM3,000 and above via credit card transaction in a single receipt, can redeem a ST House Gemstone Treatment by Asia Spa worth RM200.
