Heritage walk for history lovers
LOCALS and tourists will learn more about George Town’s historical sites during the Heritage Walk to be held in conjunction with the city’s first anniversary listing as a Unesco World Heri-tage Site.
The free walk, lasting for two and a half hours, will be held from 9am on three con- secutive Saturdays starting on July 11.
Penang Heritage Trust (PHT) manager Magdeline Ng said trained guides would conduct briefings at the Esplanade Town Hall before the walk which would encompass Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling where various places of worship such as St George’s Church, Acheen Street Mosque, Sri Mariamman Temple and the Goddess of Mercy temple are located.
The walk will be divided into three groups led by three heritage guides who will conduct briefings in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.
