Gadgets worth RM17,000 for PC challenge
DIS Technology Holdings Bhd (DIST) is giving away RM17,196 worth of products for the Galaxie & Youth Carnival to be held at Penang Times Square next weekend.
Its acting assistant manager-corporate affairs William Koay said the company is sponsoring a UMPC, GPS, Shuttle system plus LCD monitor and X-Steel as the first prize, a watch phone and wireless modem as second prize and a digital photo frame as the third prize in the PC game competition.
DIST, an MSC status company, is a leading electronic device innovator and trendsetter in Penang.
Its main focus is on the marketing, distribution and manufacturing of Blue Thunder pro-ducts.
Koay said: “We are a local IT and consumer electronics company which has penetrated the international market and feel proud to be a part of this event which will promote a healthy lifestyle among youths.”
He said this at the product pre-sentation by DIST’s graphic and design manager Alex Ooi to The Star’s marketing circulation executive Eileen Ooi at the Star Northern Hub in Bayan Lepas on Thursday.
Attractive prizes worth RM30,000 up for grabs include flight tickets.
Organised by Star Publica-tions (M) Bhd, the carnival will feature exciting games and contests for youths aged between 16 and 30.
Competitions will be held from 10am to midnight on the first day and from 10am to 10pm on the second day.
Galaxie is a fortnightly entertainment magazine published by Star Publications (M) Bhd.
Participants can take part in competitions such as 3-on-3 basketball, spin & win contest, photo competition, eating competition, foosball challenge, 5-A side soccer, arm wrestling, street dance competition, treasure hunt and B-Boy Battle.
The event is endorsed by the state, Youth, Sports, Women, Family and Community Development Committee. Main sponsors for the carnival are LG, Hotlink, Firefly and Digital Music Systems.
