Hotel welcomes dancing lions
TWO dancing lions made their presence felt at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel recently.
For the Chinese, the lion dance is a must during the lunar new year celebration as they believe the dancing lions are a vehicle to channel good fortune and prosperity to business establishments.
Starting at the main lobby of the East Wing, the lions danced their way to the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant where they blessed the restaurant and kitchen.
They then “roared” into the various restaurants and the executive office as well as the main lobby of the West Wing.
Good show: Finance director C.S. Lim (left) and general manager Robert Frager flanked by the lions at Renaissance KL’s CNY celebration. To the beating of traditional Chinese gongs and clashing of cymbals, the Kwong Ngai Lion Dance Troupe gave a rousing finale with a display of acrobatic feats at the main entrance to the hotel’s convention centre.
Hotel guests were in awe of the lions as they skillfully leapt from pole-to-pole and walked the tightrope.
Passersby were drawn to the lions’ antics and it even caused a little stir in the noontime traffic.
The hotel’s executive committee members led by general manager Robert Frager, operations director C.S. Lim, sales and marketing director Ivy Ng, operations director Victor Parada and human resources director Lynne Chee were on hand to welcome the lions to the hotel.
