Midnight blaze still under probe
GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Fire and Rescue Department is still investigating the cause of the midnight blaze which destroyed a longhouse and two containers at a construction site in Relau here.
A spokesman from the department’s operation centre in Perak Road said they were investigating all angles before they could determine the cause.
He said swift action by the firemen at the scene managed to save three other containers that housed some Indonesian construction workers and a kitchen.
Nobody was injured in the fire, near Taman Alor Vista on Friday, which badly damaged two containers and razed the longhouse with its 15 compartments.
Firemen also rescued a two-day-old baby boy who was trapped in one of the rooms.
