THE Kuala Lumpur Fashion Weekend (KLFW) returns with a host of runway shows recently at Metrojaya Mid Valley Megamall and Suria KLCC, featuring a range of labels from Parkson, Metrojaya and Isetan.
Modelled after the London Fashion Weekend, KLFW is aimed at providing consumers with first-hand information on trends for hair, make-up and fashion from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Guests at the Metrojaya show, including Malaysian shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo, had a front-row view of the fun designs and trends such as colour blocking, bold prints and pastel shades.
Looking sweet: Young models showcasing children’s Raya wear. The show opened with models strutting down the catwalk in Laura Ashley Spring/Summer collection, followed by Cape Cod which included modern and casual wear for women, men and children.
A variety of brands that Metrojaya carries — Melange, Esensual, Anne Kelly, Ruscoe & Co, Yin & Yang, Co.lette, Arthur Yen, Variante and Diane Caroll — also showcased their designs.
One of the highlights of the fashion show was the Freego showcase where young models hit the runway dressed in the brand’s modern and contemporary designs.
Different: A modern ensemble for Raya. Seeing that Raya is just two months away, labels such as Somerset Bay, Passages and East India Company showcased their special Raya collection. Other labels that were included in the fashion show were Balqis, Lemari, Smalltime, Alain Delon, Emmer Zecna and Coni Cocci.
Guests were also treated to a stellar performance by KLFW ambassador Irma Lailatul Munira who sang three songs.
Over in Suria KLCC, guests were treated to shows by Malaysian and international fashion brands from Parkson and Isetan as well as GPS (Graffiti Tee, Philosophy and Salabianca), iKARRTiNi and Hajaba.
Shoppers also got the chance to participate in talks and discussions involving industry experts and professional stylists including Primeworks Studio Sdn Bhd image management manager Zaihani Mohd Zain, former The Star fashion editor Alistair Tan, and make-up artist and hairstylist Cindy Chin.
Fittingly called Express Yourself, guests were given advice on clothing styles, make-up and finding the right look to best bring out their individuality.
KLFW was held in conjunction with the launch of the 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival.
