A top score in Genting
IN CONJUNCTION with the Game On At Genting-Battle of Europe 2012, Resorts Word Genting organised a friendly football match between former England international and ex-Liverpool FC striker Robbie Fowler and underprivileged children at the Football Village, First World Plaza in Genting recently.
Before the event started, 32 children from Rumah Ozanam, Petaling Jaya were invited to enjoy the fun rides at the Genting Theme Park in the morning before they proceeded for the friendly match at the hotel in Genting.
The children, who were in high spirits, were given a chance to play several types of indoor football games.
One for the album: Katherine (back row, fourth from left) and Fowler (in track suit) in a group photo together with the underprivileged children from Rumah Ozanam. They were Target Football, which got them kicking hard to gain the points, the Radar Speed Cage, where they could measure a kick accurately; and the Super Shot, where participants built up a score by aiming and kicking at different angles.
Lastly, the children also had a shot at playing the goalkeeper role.
All the diving and jumping set the tone for a fun time at the Football Village.
The children were divided into three groups and the top 10 scorers proceeded to the final stage called Power Save, where they were given a chance to save shots from Fowler.
The children did well, with R. Logeswaran,10, walking away with the top prize.
“I am so happy when I heard that we were invited to Genting Highlands for a day trip. This is a dream come true for me to visit Genting Highlands. I am even more excited that we got the chance to play football with Robbie Fowler. He is so cool and I was amazed with his football talent,” said a beaming Logeswaran.
Prized possesion: Children from Rumah Ozanam received autographed T-shirts from Fowler during the event. After the prize presentation, the children took a group photo with Fowler and Genting Malaysia Berhad public relation and communications vice-president Katherine Chew.
