Duo in their 20s nabbed over murder of beautician
SUNGAI PETANI: Police have arrested two men in connection with the death of a bridal shop owner whose body was found in a ditch, some 250m from the Sungai Petani Court Complex.
Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Hashim Ali said police were investigating the case as murder based on the post-mortem report.
He said M. Revathi, 23, died from the stab wounds on her neck and abdomen.
He said the two men, in their 20s, were arrested on Wednesday night and put under remand for a week since yesterday.
It was reported that the body of Revathi, who was earlier reported missing by her family, was spottted by passers-by near an oil palm estate in Persiaran Ambangan Height.
Her father M. Marimuthoo, 58, received a call from police at 8.15am on Wednesday asking him to identify a woman’s body found in a ditch.
Revathi owned a bridal shop in Taman Ria and had been attending beautician classes in Taman Sejati nightly.
She usually returned to her Taman Arked home at about 10.30pm, right after class ended.
When she failed to return home on Tuesday night, her father and brother M. Dass Kumar went to her class but found it was already closed.
They searched for her in the area and also along the North-South Expressway near Sungai Petani.
Revathi’s family lodged a missing person report at 2am on Wednesday, about six hours before her body was found.
