PKR 1 winner non-politician

BUTTERWORTH: The Penang businessman who won the bid for the PKR 1 vehicle registration number plate at RM99,555 is Ong Thai Yang.
Ong, in his 40s, also won the bid for PKR 155 at RM2,222. His name was among those in the list of successful bidders for the PKR series which was put up on display at the Penang Road Transport Department (JPJ) headquarters in Seberang Jaya yesterday.
It was however not known what type of business Ong is involved in. Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) committee member Abdul Malik Abul Kassim said Ong was not a member of the party as far as he knew.
Ong was reportedly among five people who had bid for the number, the lowest of which was RM40,000.
The PKR 2 plate went to Kuala Lumpur-based company, Advanced Sales Sdn Bhd for RM23,200, while Masterskill Education Group Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Sri Santhara Kumar Ramanaidu won PKR 3 for RM50,000.
Other winning bids are RM12,111 which Muhammad Fadhrul Redzwann Samsudin bid for PKR 4 and RM28,000 which Sow Ban Leong paid for PKR 5. Sow also paid RM1,500 for PKR 515.
PKR 6 went to Ou Wooi Leng for RM20,000, PKR 7 went to Ooi Sew Kim for RM12,000 while Looi Eng Beng paid RM33,800 for PKR 8.
Constructive Edge Sdn Bhd secured PKR 9 at RM38,380 while Rosli Ismail obtained PKR 10 at RM20,000.
Among those who won bids for ‘Interesting Numbers’ were Mazlan Salleh for PKR 11 (RM14,100), Ou Kum Kiang @ Au Ah Pat for PKR 22 (RM7,800), Lim Saw Teng for PKR 33 (RM10,800), Mat Sapar Awang for PKR 44 (RM2,000), Hong Enterprise for PKR 55 (RM7,000), Ch’ng Wei Sheng for PKR 66 (RM13,600), Syarikat K. Kiang Motor Trading Sdn Bhd for PKR 77 (RM7,200), Tee Kim Lian for PKR 88 (RM11,800) and VIP Plate Number Agency for PKR 99 (RM11,800).
Other winners were Aw Jit Chyn for PKR 111 (RM6,000), Aw Jyh Sheng for PKR 222 (RM5,500), Aw Jit Ying for PKR 333 (RM9,800), Aw Meng Khoon for PKR 555 (RM7,000), Tan Lei Eng for PKR 666 (RM8,900), Roslan Mat Lajim for PKR 777 (RM7,000) and Sek Yui Suet who won bids for both PKR 888 (RM13,600) and PKR 999 (RM13,600).
Penang JPJ director Datuk Hassan Yaacob had said of the total 623 tender applications for the PKR prefix, 384 applicants were successful in their bids. The minimum bid for ‘Golden Numbers’ (from 1 to 10) starts at RM10,000, ‘Interesting Numbers’ begins from RM2,000, while ‘Popular Numbers’ and ‘Current Numbers’ starts at RM300 each.
