MB welcomes foreign investors to industrial park’s beneficial location in Pahang
KUANTAN: The Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) in Gebeng, here, will embark as the biggest investment opportunities in the State.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said while the State Government welcomed the park to be located here, it also welcomed foreign investors to invest in high-technology industrial investment.
Adnan said the MCKIP was mooted in response to the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park which was proposed by China Premier Wen Jiabao in April last year.

He said the park which has its site on a 606ha of land in Gebeng is the first industrial park which will be jointly developed by both countries.
Adnan said Kuantan was chosen for the project because of its close proximity to the port facing the South China Sea and is the most direct link to the deepwater of Qinzhou Port and other ports in Guanxi Zhuang autonomous region.
He said other additional advantages including the highways, airport and in addition, some 100 multi-nationals and Small Medium Enterprises have already established their operations here.
Recently, 30 officials from Guangxi Zhung had a meeting with Adnan at the Zenith Hotel here accompanied by Malaysian Ambassador in China Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting.
The delegates have also visited the site as one of their agendas of the meeting session.
“They met the Prime Minister to witness the Letter of Intent (LOI) signing ceremony between Kuantan Municipal Council president Datuk Zulkifli Yaakob and the representatives from Guanxi Zhuang Region in Kuala Lumpur.
“The site is owned by State Government through its State Development Corporation (PKNP) and State Secretary Corporation (PSKN),’’ Adnan said after he had a closed-door meeting with the delegates.
He said the project will benefit both countries and for the state, the park will be the economic catalyst to the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) particularly the ECER’s special economic zone.
It was also learnt that the sea journey between both Kuantan Port and Qinzhou Port will take three days while the flying hours from Kuantan Airport to Qinzhou will take three hours.
