A MUSIC and dance concert to rekindle the understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity in Malaysia will be held at the Civic Centre in Petaling Jaya at 5pm on Friday.
Organising chairman Kihraan Shiva said the event was aimed at spreading the message about the uniqueness of cultures and traditions in Malaysia.
“We feel that culture should be shared and there will be no tickets sold,” he said.
He said several groups — The Regal Orchestra (Chinese culture), Nadi Tradisi (Kedah Malay), Mehr (Persian traditional orchestra), Malaysian Apna Punjab Bhangra (folk dance), AuCapoeira (Afro-Brazilian martial art and music), a South Indian bharathanatyam and a Qawwali by the Persatuan Penganut Viswa Nirmala Dharma — have confirmed participation.
“We are still looking for one or two more groups to come on board,” he said.
Kihraan said the Petaling Jaya City Council, Vijayaratnam Foundation, Pure Life Society, Nur Damai, PPVND and the Selangor state government had contributed to the event.
