Khalid: Only those who qualify will get land titles
MENTRI Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said that about 80% of those who had applied to convert Temporary Occupation Licences (TOL) to land titles 10 years ago were still waiting while the remainder had already received their Form 5As.
He explained that the state had a scheme to ensure that only those who were qualified would get the land.
He added that some applicants had been living in villages near river and road reserves that had to be evacuated.
“These families will be given new land with proper facilities like access roads, electricity and water supply nearby before giving the approval.
“As land near urban areas is much more expensive, the land provided for them is located in the outskirts,” he said, adding that there was a new, computerised system at the land office that allowed officers to access the files via mobile phones.
“Now, the land officers can check on the status of a plot of land at the location itself, he said.
