PDC blood donation today
FOR the sixth consecutive year, Penang Development Corporation (PDC), in collaboration with Ansara (alumini of Mara Junior Science colleges) will hold a pre-Ramadan blood donation campaign.
The three-day campaign will be held today at the Concourse 3 of Komtar (opposite KFC) from 8am to 5pm, and on July 14 and July 15 at AEON Jusco in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam, from 10am to 5pm.
PDC general manager Datuk Rosli Jaafar said the campaign was aimed at replenishing the blood bank of hospitals nationwide.
“Our aim is to get at least 500 bags of blood this year. It’s a tall order but we appeal to the public to come and help us out for this good cause,” he said.
Rosli told a press conference that there was an urgent need of blood supply by hospitals nationwide during the Ramadan, adding that Muslims were not allowed to donate blood while fasting.
This year, the campaign is joined by Intel Penang, Maksak (Government Services Sports and Welfare Council) and AEON Jusco.
