GYM junkies in Shah Alam will be happy to know that Fitness First officially opened its 14th club at the two-month old Setia City Mall recently.
The new 16,500 square foot space is equipped with modern exercise equipment and two studios — the Mind and Body Studio and the Group Exercise Studio — in addition to the dedicated e-spinner area and freestyle training zone.
This particular branch is also the first gym operator in Malaysia to offer an outdoor option to working out.
These outdoor sessions will be conducted on the large field just outside the mall, and sessions will be similar to bootcamp-style training.
Let’s work it out: Prosser (in blue boxing gloves) and Dave (center) with the staff of Fitness First Setia City Mall. “Our members can experience the best of both worlds; a rigorous outdoor session before coming back in for a relaxing shower and rest,” said Fitness First Asia Regional Fitness manager, Dave Nuku, who is known for his role on the Biggest Loser Asia.
Group fitness classes, or Group X as Fitness First calls it are popular amongst regular gym-goers are also available. These classes include the usual Zumba, Bodypump sessions, Yoga Sessions and even introductory Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing).
These proprietary sessions also utilise specialised training equipment, from the TRX suspension training system, to BOSU (both sides utilized) balls and the ViPR (Vitality, Performance and Reconditioning).
Fitness First Asia chief financial officer, David Prosser was also at the club, which already boasts of 800 members since opening its doors to the public a month ago.
“We chose Setia City Mall because research has shown that the demographics of the residents staying around this area matches our target market,” Prosser explains.
Membership rates start at RM167 a month, and further information on the Fitness First Setia City Mall may be found at www.fitnessfirst.com.my or at +60333456155
The gym is open from Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 11pm and from 7am to 8pm on Saturdays. The opening hours on public holidays is from 9am to 8pm.
