FOLLOWING StarMetro’s expose on the increasing number of homeless people living on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, many readers have written to complain that there were too many soup kitchens operating in the city and this they say encourages life on the street.

A reader had written saying that the soup kitchens are the culprits behind the growing number of homeless people living on the streets.

“If you do not want stray dogs in your neighbourhood, what must you do? My answer is, “don’t feed them!” wrote a disgruntled reader.

“I read with concern that food provided under free food programme are dropped at a designated area to be picked up by “someone” for the homeless. How are such NGOs to know if the food reaches to right people? she said.
