STUDENTS of SMJK Yuk Choy took the opportunity to showcase their multiple talents by putting on a good show for parents and guests during the school’s excellence awards ceremony.
Members of the school Chinese orchestra gave the visitors a rousing welcome with their performance of two lively songs.
This was followed by a traditional Chinese stand up comedy, which left the audience in stitches.

In his speech, Ipoh city councillor Chan Soon Yip, who represented state executive councillor Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, announced a RM3,000 personal donation from Dr Mah.

During a press conference later, board of governors chairman Kwan Foh Kwai said the school had lined up several events on Sept 1 to commemorate the school’s change to the new education system in 1962.
“We will have a carnival in the morning, followed by the opening ceremony of our new five-storey building and a dinner at Syuen Hotel after that,” he said.
Kwan said although the building was nearing completion, the school was still facing problems in raising another RM1mil to equip and furnish it.
