A FORM Five schoolgirl is looking forward to her National Service (NS) stint despite having health problems.
Siti Aishah Abd Aziz, 17, from SMK (P) Sri Mutiara in Penang, said she was excited about facing the challenges of the NS, adding that it was her duty to the nation to undergo the three-month programme.
“Doctors have advised me not to tire myself because I suffer from migraines and fatigue. However, I’m building up my spirits to stay strong for the challenge,” she said.
Aishah, the second youngest among seven siblings, said she was thrilled when she got to know through an SMS in April that she had been picked for the next NS intake on Sept 9.
Aishah’s father Abd Aziz Abd Rahman, 58, hoped that her daughter would be placed in a camp near their home in Jelutong.
“As a parent, I am very worried about my daughter’s health. She’s been having fainting spells since she was in Year Six. I hope that she will be placed close to the family so that it will be easy for me and my wife to visit her,” he said.
Aishah said she never had any intention of withdrawing from the programme despite her condition.
Her schoolmate Nur Fatin Fati-mah, 17, is also looking forward to the NS programme.
Nur Fatin said she hoped to do her best during the training.
