DBKL distributes RM5,000 to RAs
ABOUT 238 residents’ associations in Kuala Lumpur received a much-needed shot in the arm in the form of RM5,000 each from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to conduct their community activities.
A total of RM1.9mil was disbursed by Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin at the DBKL headquarters recently.
In April, 174 residents’ associations each received RM5,000 to fund their activities.
When DBKL found out the amount was insufficient, it decided to give extra funds.
“We hope they can now conduct the activities in their neighbourhood to promote unity.
“Such activities will enable residents to communicate and make their neighbourhood a better place to live in,” said Nong Chik.
Meanwhile, Bukit Bandaraya Residents’ Association president Mumtaz Ali said the contribution was welcomed and would help them hold events in a more effective manner.
Also present was Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib.
