Reporting on social responsibility
INTEL Malaysia recently unveiled its 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report at the conclusion of the company’s Aidilfitri Festive Cheer 2012 programme.
The inaugural Corporate Responsibility Report provides a deeper insight into Intel’s business ethics, guiding principles, commitment to the environment and supply chain responsibility, among other things, for the year ending Dec 31, 2011.
“Throughout Intel’s 40 years of operations in Malaysia, our commitment to corporate responsibility has been resolute. Intel has built its business on pushing the boundaries of innovation, creating products that have fundamentally changed the way people live and work while finding opportunities to apply our technology and expertise to help resolve some of the world’s greatest challenges ranging from climate change and water conservation to education quality and the digital divide,” said Kulim Microprocessor and Chipset Operations (KMCO) general manager Lee Heng Gee at the launch of the Corporate Responsibility Report.
“Our inaugural report captures all of the great work we have done throughout 2011 and it is our hope that this will inspire our employees to keep up the good work in the many years to come,” Lee said.
Intel Malaysia’s Aidilfitri Festive Cheer programme is one of Intel’s many corporate responsibility initiatives underscoring its commitment towards being a responsible corporate citizen and is now in its twelfth year.
This year, the Intel volunteers managed to raise over RM23,000.00 in aid of nearly 500 individuals, including orphans and underprivileged school-children in Kedah and Penang after a successful two-week cash and in-kind donation drive.
The funds collected were used to buy sets of baju raya for the needy.
In addition, Intel employees in Penang and Kulim spread festive cheer by distributing festive goodies to underprivileged communities in Penang and Kedah in an effort to help the less fortunate have a better and meaningful Aidilfitri celebration.
Kulim district officer Dzohir Md Zain was also present at the event to present the clothes and duit raya to 460 children from Rumah Anak Kesayangan, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Taman Bakti, Rumah Permata Kasih, Rumah Amal Kulim, Sri Nurul Hidayah P. Elang Kulim and Pertubuhan Bela Didik Anak-anak Yatim.
