The Lady Killers and Crummer to entertain guests at dinner
THE New Zealand Annual Dinner and Dance will be something to look forward to next month as the Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (MNZCC) hopes to make it another memorable event for all.
Taking place on Sept 22 at the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the event is set to bring an array of entertainment, good food and wine.
As such, one of the highlights would be The Lady Killers, who are considered New Zealand and Australia’s top female group.
The group’s music spans the genres, ranging from pop, R&B and jazz to country and rock n’ roll.
A special guest performance by Annie Crummer is also set to awe the guests for the evening.
Well-known: Crummer and The Lady Killers (below) will be performing during the New Zealand Annual dinner and dance 2012. Crummer, a well-known trans-Tasmanian performer, has worked with Australian artists such as Jimmy Barnes, John Farham, Diesel, Christine Anu and New Zealand artists such Dave Dobbyn, Tim and Neil Finn, Herbs and the Netherworld Dancing Toys.
As a solo artist, Crummer has supported and toured with Sir Paul McCartney, K.D Lang, Ray Charles, Sting and the late Michael Jackson.
In 1993, Crummer released her debut album Language which gained platinum status while in 1996, her second album Seventh Wave reached gold.
She has also won numerous music awards including best female artist in 1993.
In 2003, she won the lead role of Killer Queen in the Australian production of We Will Rock You written and directed by Ben Elton for Queen.
In May last year, Crummer was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pacific Music Awards.
There will also be the famous Ka Mate Haka performance by boys from Victoria Institution Kuala Lumpur.
The dinner will present a four-course meal with New Zealand’s fine foods and a free flow of New Zealand wines.
There is also free flow of beer, kiwi fruit and mangosteen juices.
Gracing the event will be New Zealand High Commissioner David Pine and Minister of International Trade and Industry secretary-general Datuk Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria.
An invitation has also been extended to the International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, who is also MNZCC’s Malaysian patron.
MNZCC chairman Richard Tankersley said the event was considered the most popular and largest annual event in the Kuala Lumpur calendar according to the many comments received over the years from a wide range of Malaysians, Australians, English, American and other expatriates.
“From just 200 guests in 2002, we have averaged over 600 members and guests in 2007, 2008, 2009, and in 2010, we sold out at 800 members and guests.
“We hope to repeat that this year,” he said.
With that, there would be 80 tables for sale this year with a table for 10 going for RM3,000 nett. The corporate table package is priced at RM5,000 nett.
