KUANTAN: Dozens of Jalur Gemilang flags were distributed to traders near the wet market here in conjunction with the month-long Merdeka Day celebrations.
The flags were given out by MCA leaders led by Semambu assemblyman Datuk Pang Tsu Ming and Teruntum assemblyman Chang Hong Seong.
They spent more than one hour to mingle with the traders and help them to hang the flags at their stalls.
Chang said during the walkabout, they also seized the opportunity to find out of any pressing problems faced by traders and the public.

“Alternatively, they can come to my service centre to file a complaint so that I could bring it to the attention of the relevant authorities,” he said.
Chang said the distribution of free flags was part of their initiatives to get the people from all walks of life to fly the Jalur Gemilang.
He said besides instilling a sense of belonging and patriotism, the flags could enliven the town and surroundings.
Pang also urged all Malaysians to fly the national flag at their homes, offices, shoplots and buildings to mark the historic celebrations.
“Let’s celebrate together as one nation in tandem with the spirit of Merdeka and 1Malaysia,” he said.
