Sports day gives students a chance to shine on the field
SMK Subang Utama in SS18, Subang Jaya, recently organised its 22nd Sports Day that was held at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Stadium.
Kelana Jaya parliamentary coordinator Ong Chong Swen was invited to officiate at the event.
In her speech, Ong said, “Besides enhancing one’s health, sports helps to instil a sense of teamwork and never-say-die spirit. It also helps promote racial harmony.

Ong said the “1 Student, 1 Sport” policy by the Education Ministry would not only help in the integration of all races but also have an impact on community programmes.
“The rapid social and economic growth is causing changes in social values among the young generation,” she said.
“As it is an important area that we cannot ignore, schools should play an active role to run more extra-curricular activities for the students. which would also help reduce the school dropout and runaway rate.”
Ong later presented a cheque of RM1,500 to the school, as well as 200 sachets of durian flavoured-coffee and shopping bags for the school’s Parents’ Day celebration.
Present at the event were school headmistress Rahanim Abdul Rahim and Parent Teacher Association chairman Andy Oon.
