Making wishes come true
This Ramadan, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Bhd will be adding some cheer to the lives of underprivileged children from 19 homes through its “Sinar Harapan” or “Box of Hope” programme.
Initiated in 2011, Sinar Harapan — Box of Hope is back again this year with the aim to share hope and joy with underprivileged children by fulfilling their wish list.
HSBC Amanah Malaysia chief executive officer, Rafe Haneef said: “HSBC has a long history of supporting communities where we operate; and Sinar Harapan is one of the initiatives which engage both our staff and customers to do their bit in giving back to the communities in which we operate in.”
Giving out of the box: Rafe (back, second from left) launching Sinar Harapan, together with HSBC colleagues and children from five invited homes. Sinar Harapan – Box of Hope runs on a simple concept whereby people select a child’s name and his/her wish and make it come true.
HSBC Amanah Malaysia branches will adopt a home within their communities and the wish list from the homes will be made available in the branches.
HSBC employees and customers, together with their own families, can then pick a name — or more — and help grant the children’s wishes.
“When we first started Sinar Harapan last year, we only had 10 branches. Therefore children from 10 homes benefited from it. As HSBC Amanah Malaysia’s network has expanded to a total of 19 branches to-date, this year we are pleased to increase the beneficiaries to 19 homes,” said Rafe.
All HSBC Amanah Malaysia branches nationwide will run this charity drive throughout Ramadan.
The contributions from Sinar Harapan will be presented to the homes adopted by the branches just before Hair Raya Aidilfitri.
“Ramadan is indeed a month of giving, and we look forward to the opportunity to make a difference by bringing smiles to the children’s faces. And what better way to do this than getting people to join hands and directly contribute to the cause,” added Rafe.
Those interested to participate and support this charity drive can visit HSBC Amanah Malaysia branches in Kuala Lumpur (Jalan Pinang; Taman Maluri; Bangsar Baru; Taman Connaught; Old Klang Road; Wangsa Maju), Selangor (Kota Damansara; Bangi; Bukit Tinggi Klang; Shah Alam; Cheras South; One Utama Shopping Centre; Ampang Point; Sungai Buloh), Penang (Juru Auto City; Tanjung Tokong), Johor (Nusa Bestari), Perak (Gunung Rapat) and Sabah (Inanam).
HSBC Amanah Malaysia complements the existing comprehensive banking solutions of HSBC Bank Malaysia by offering customers a full suite of innovative Islamic retail and corporate products and services.
