Council gives RM207,000 to fix homes of fishermen
GEORGE TOWN: The Bayan Baru Parliamentary Agriculture Development Council will be repairing the homes of 30 fishermen in Batu Maung near here.
The project worth a total of RM207,000 is scheduled to be completed before Hari Raya, said council chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Saibu.
“The council will oversee the renovation works until they are completed,” he told a press conference yesterday before giving out the projects to the contractors via a drawing of lots at the Bayan Baru Umno division service centre in Persiaran Mahsuri 1/2 in Bayan Baru.
Also present were Penang Farmers Organisation Authority (LPP) deputy general manager Syamsul Md Razak and Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) assistant engineer Najid Tajuddin.
Abdul Rahim, who is also Bayan Baru Umno division chief, said the LPP is the secretariat for the projects which will be supervised by LKIM.
He said the projects came under the Federal Government’s RM100mil home improvement subsidy scheme.
