Merdeka convoy to distribute 6,000 Jalur Gemilang flags
ALOR GAJAH: The Ramadan and Aidilfitri Merdeka Convoy organised by agencies under the Information, Communications and Culture Ministry will distribute 6,000 Jalur Gemilang flags throughout Malacca.
Malacca Information Department director Zainudin Ismail said the convoy would instil patriotic fervour to encourage the public, especially the younger generation to fly the national flag during the three-day journey.
He said 30 participants from agencies under the ministry, including Bernama, the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) and the Malacca Broadcasting Department would be travelling in 10 cars during the programme.
Zainudin was speaking to reporters after the convoy was flagged off by State Women, Family Development and Welfare Committee chairman Datuk Norpipah Abdol at the Alor Gajah Sentral (AG Sentral) terminal here, on Thursday.
“From the AG Sentral, the group will make its way to the Jasin Mini Stadium and end the journey at Sungai Udang, Central Malacca,” he said, adding that the convoy would give away bubur lambuk and aid to the needy — Bernama.
