MCA division to hold lantern parade
IN conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Bukit Gelugor MCA division in Penang will hold a celebration for residents today.
The event, to start at 7pm, will be held at the top floor of the Taman Tun Sardon community hall.
Division chief Datuk Koay Kar Huah said 400 lanterns would be given out to the children who turn up at the event.
“After that, we will gather all of them together with their parents for a procession around the area,” said Koay.
The Mooncake or Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar. This year, the festival falls on Sept 30.
Besides that, Koay said there would be other interesting activities such as a harmonica performance, tanglung (lantern) quiz, lucky draw and a karaoke session.
“We will be also providing food for residents,” said Koay.
Also present during the recent press conference was division deputy chief Loh Nam Hooi.
