Astro media sales vice-president Kenneth Teo said it has been a thrilling experience to provide an avenue for amateur golfers to feature in the tournament over the years.
“It has been an ongoing effort to promote the tournament since we initiated it 16 years ago. We are introducing a new leg in Terengganu for the first time to reach out to participants based in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia,” he added.
They have lined up 20 qualifying rounds for the preliminary stages nationwide with tournaments in Selangor, Kedah, Terengganu, Perak, Malacca, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak, Sabah and Johor.
The first leg will be held at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club on March 14.
For the new season, they will also be visiting four new courses.
Besides Resort World Kijal in Terengganu, the three new venues are Meru Valley (Perak), Penang Golf Club (Penang) and Pulai Spring Golf Resort (Johor).
The entry fee is RM250 per person for Astro customers and RM350 each for non-customers.
The fee will include green and buggy fees, daily insurance, breakfast and lunch. Partici-pants will also receive a goodie bag worth RM300 each.
They are also offering attractive prizes including a trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia for the grand finals.
The best gross and nett winners from the qualifying rounds will book their places for the outing to Cambodia from Sept 29 to Oct 2.
Kenneth said it would be another fun-filled experience for the qualifiers to tackle the two exotic courses — Angkor Golf Resort and Siem Reap Lake Resort — during the grand finals.
Recently, Prudential Assurance Malaysia continued their partnership as the title sponsor of the tournament for the fifth occasion.
“It has been very successful in building a wonderful platform to bring people from all walks of life to adopt a healthy lifestyle,” said Prudential Assurance Malaysia chief marketing officer Fiona Liao.
