IPOH STARWALK
Ipoh International Starwalk 2013 is now open for registration at The Star’s Ipoh office, No 8-10, Lorong Chung Thye Phin from 9am to 5pm daily on weekdays. There is the 10km competition Malaysian category, 10km competition International category (open to all with qualifying time below 50min) and 7km non-competition category. Registration is RM20 (International), RM15 (Malaysian) for competition walkers and RM10 for non-competition walkers. Registration deadline for the competition category is on May 17 while the non-competition category is May 31. The walk will be flagged off at Stadium Indera Mulia at 7am on June 16. SPEECH CONTEST
Perak Malaysian-Japanese Friendship Society and the Consulate-General of Japan, Perak will hold its 27th annual Japanese speech contest at the Ipoh City & Country Club, 283, Jalan Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh at 7.30pm on May 18. LUNG HEALTH DAY
The Perak Chest Society will hold a “Walk for your Lungs” in conjunction with the Perak Lung Health Day at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreation Park at 6.30am on May 19. DEMENTIA TALKS
Hospital Fatimah will hold talks on dementia at its conference room, 4th floor at 2pm on May 11. The topics are “What is Dementia?” by consultant physicial and geriatrician De Koh Wai Keat and “Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia” by consultant psychiatrist Dr Marvin Chong.
