Finishing touches: A worker seen here carrying out landscaping works at the musical fountain project in front of the Ipoh railway station. AFTER a delay of about five months, Ipoh folks can soon feast their senses on the city’s first musical fountain in front of the Ipoh railway station.
Datuk Bandar Datuk Roshidi Hashim said the project was already in its final stages and the fountains were currently being tested.
“Currently the landscaping works are being done while the contractor is putting on the final touches to the project.
“We are still making some adjustments to the fountain, but the overall structure is already complete,” he told The Star.
A check by The Star found that the hoarding surrounding the project had been removed and workers were carrying out landscaping works.
The project was first announced by Roshidi two years ago and was supposed to be completed last December but due to poor workmanship, the council had requested the contractor to re-do certain areas, thereby causing a delay.
The project is part of the council’s plan to refurbish three existing fountains in the city at a cost of RM2mil to turn them into tourist attractions and to make the city more vibrant.
The two other fountains are located at Dataran Ipoh and Bulatan Sultan Yusoff near the Mentri Besar’s official residence.
