GE13: Kit Siang and Guan Eng receive cheers and applause from supporters

A SEA of people, a majority of them clad in black, flooded the Ipoh Chinese Chin Woo Athletics Association Hall and part of Jalan Hussein during the post GE13 ceramah in Ipoh.
About 10,000 people, of all races, welcomed Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang with thunderous applause and deafening cheers of “Ubah” as he entered the packed hall on Thursday.
Kit Siang returned to Ipoh for the first time since polling day.
Supporters also took the chance to take photos with Kit Siang, who happily obliged to their request.
Kit Siang who spotted a bandage on his right hand after a minor surgery, was undeterred by it, and proceeded to give a fiery speech.
He also thanked the thousands of supporters’ for their prayers for his victory in Johor.
Halfway through Kit Siang’s speech, his son DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng arrived and was also given a rousing welcome.
Guan Eng, who is also Penang Chief Minister and Air Puteh assemblyman, paid tribute to the first-time voters in the GE13.
“We want to pay tribute to the young voters, who voted in large numbers.”
“We also want to thank the women voters who also came out in huge numbers at the polling stations,” he added.
Those present included Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran, Ipoh Timur MP Thomas Su, Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, Kampar MP Dr Ko Chung Sen and other state party leaders, who also gave speeches.
Among the other speakers of the night were Tebing Tinggi assemblyman Ong Boon Piow, Bercham assemblyman Cheong Chee Khing, Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee Chuan How, Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam.
