Tan to set up association for residents
NEWLY-elected Wangsa Maju MP Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong wants to set up a Wangsa Maju Welfare Association to help residents in need.
“It will be an apolitical non-governmental organisation under the Registrar of Societies. I will not be in charge but am willing to serve as an adviser,” he said at a press conference.
Tan said the association could offer help to victims of flash floods and fire.
“It can organise fundraisers to generate funds and many will donate for worthy causes,” he said.
During the campaigning period for GE13, Tan had promised to champion two major issues in the area, safety and the rights of strata-title owners.
On safety, he said, Zon Selamat or Safe Zone would be set up to empower people to take charge of their own safety.
For the strata-title owners, Tan said he will be organising meetings to explain their rights.
Tan said other issues in the area in need of attention included upgrading of markets and roads to reduce congestion.
