Fundraiser in support of leukaemia patients
Games and food await festival participants. MAKE your way to the inaugural International Cultural Festival 2013, themed “One World, One Vision”, on June 9 at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Petaling Jaya to support a fundraiser for leukaemia patients and youth development in Malaysia.
Organised by the Junior Chamber International Petaling Jaya (JCI PJ), proceeds from public coupon sales will go towards financing the set-up of JCI PJ Youth Training Centre Fund and JCI PJ-UMMC Leukaemia and Cancer Trust Fund.
The former provides a conducive place for the development of young active citizens while the latter helps children with leukaemia and cancer currently being treated at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.
The event promises colourful, fun and enriching activities for people of all interests — the young entrepreneur, those interested in culture and even families looking to spend the day together.
Activities include Cultural Dance Compe-tition, International Children Drawing Contest, International Food Fair, Flea Market and country exhibitions. Admission is free.
The one-day event, expected to attract 15,000 members of the public, is an interactive exchange platform to showcase Malaysia’s cultural diversity while contributing back to society and developing business prowess of the youth.
Organising chairman and JCI member Adnan Lee said with globalisation being a part of society, the festival would provide international opportunities and exposures for young people in Malaysia to showcase and exchange ideologies, skills and key learnings with foreign counterparts for personal and business enrichment of the young people.
“JCI PJ is dedicated to do its part by developing the business capabilities of Malaysian youth, broadening the mindset of youth and perform CSR at the same time.
“It is important that Malaysians recognise and embrace the diversity we have in this country,” said Adnan.
The public can purchase the coupons at all MBG FruitShop outlets in shopping centres or call 019-319 7383 (Liz Tan) or 016-385 3813 (Jovie Lim).
