MPSJ takes action on illegal outlets
MPSJ enforcement officers taking down details at an entertainment outlet that was raided. FOLLOWING tip-offs from the public, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) recently raided several unlicensed cybercafes and massage centres in Puchong and USJ, Subang Jaya.
MPSJ enforcement director Major (R) Mohd Rasip Rasul said the cybercafes raided were running gambling applications on the premises.
“We have been getting complaints from the public, especially on the gambling outlets. We confiscated 15 computers in an illegal cybercafe in Putra Permai and directed it to stop operations.
“We have raided this outlet at least five times but the operator continued to reopen the centre,” said Rasip.
Other cybercafes that were raided in the five-day operation included four in TS6/10, Subang Jaya, one in Pinggiran Putra, five in Puchong Utama and one in Putra Walk.
“We confiscated a total of 155 computers and issued compound notices under the MPSJ Cybercafe Bylaws 2007, which carries a maximum fine of RM1,000,” said Rasip.
The council also took action against three illegal massage centres in Puchong Utama that were offering sexual services and another in USJ1, Subang Jaya, for operating without a licence.
“We also raided four outlets in USJ19 Mall, Subang Jaya and Setia Walk, Puchong, for conducting entertainment activities without a licence from the council.
“We confiscated equipment and issued compound notices under Section 6(1) of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995, which carries a maximum fine of RM25,000,” he said.
