New passports to be issued in Penang from today
A BETTER quality passport, with a page containing the carrier’s data in polycarbonate, will be issued in Penang from today.
Penang Immigration Depart-ment director Abdul Qadir Siddiq Ahmad said the new passports had already been issued in the Klang Valley.
“The passport contains an identification page using polycarbonate materials.
“The many layers make the ID documents fuse into a single solid card.
“This will make it difficult for the Malaysian passport to be forged,” he told a press conference at his office in Seberang Jaya.
Abdul Qadir said that following the changes, all new applicants had to submit new photographs taken in front of plain white or off-white background, measuring 35mm by 50mm.
“The applicant’s full face must be visible.
“Applicants are also advised to wear dark clothing covering the shoulders and chest,” he said.
