Worker denies stealing men’s toiletries
GEORGE TOWN: A factory worker claimed trial in the magistrate’s court here to a charge of stealing RM400 worth of men’s toiletries.
Mohd Amran Amir, 25, allegedly committed the theft at the Tesco outlet in Jalan Tengku Kudin on May 9 at 10.30pm.
He is accused of stealing RM407.13 worth of deodorants, hair creams, colognes, face creams and nail clippers, among others.
He is charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code which carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years and a fine.
Amran was represented by council Ooi Kheng Liang.
In mitigation, Ooi asked for a lower bail as his client had to care for and support his parents on a production operator’s salary.
Magistrate Sri Pracha Nanthini Balabedha then set bail at RM2,000 with one surety and set June 18 for mention.
